Santa Ana Cathedral, rising in the heart of the historic Vegueta quarter, is the most emblematic religious and civic landmark of Gran Canaria. Construction began in the late 15th century and blends Gothic, Renaissance, and Neoclassical features. The twin Neoclassical façade faces Santa Ana Square, with its famous dog statues and the Town Halls opposite, creating a unique monumental ensemble. Inside, highlights include the Museum of Sacred Art and the historic organ, as well as the chapels and the light-filled transept. The south tower is open to visitors and offers sweeping views over the city and the bay of Las Palmas. The church is largely accessible, with ramps and capacity control. The surrounding area (Vegueta and Triana) offers pedestrian streets with shops, cafés, and restaurants, as well as public car parks and nearby bus stops. It is advisable to use an underground car park (we recommend the Vegueta car park listed in the Parking section) or public transport at peak times due to high parking demand.
